Open Water SCUBA Class

"This is where it all begins"

We appreciate the opportunity to introduce you to the wonders of the underwater world. Our regularly scheduled classes are conducted over five or seven days:
The five-day course is a daytime class from 9am to 4pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday covering the classroom and pool requirements. Thursday and Friday are when you complete your open water training dives.
The seven-day course is an evening class from  6pm to 10pm Monday through Friday alternating between your classroom and pool sessions. Then a half-day Saturday and Sunday for your open water certification dives.
Having completed the class and pool sessions your first two open water dives will be on the “Destin Jetties”. Your final two open water certification dives will be on a sunken ocean going tug named the “Miss Louise”. The dives will be conducted aboard our boat the “Sea Cobra”, one of the finest, best-equipped and crewed dive boats you will ever dive from. If weather or conditions do not allow us to dive these sites we do have alternate dive locations, so the completion date should remain the same.
The Open Water SCUBA Course includes student file folder, pool fees, boat dives, the use of all scuba equipment and certification-processing fee. The items that you need to supply are your own personal snorkeling system consisting of mask, snorkel, and fins, which we will discuss in the first class session. The personal snorkeling system needs to be fitted properly. Our experienced and friendly staff will be happy to assist you with your selection to ensure a proper fit.
The cost of the class is $350.00. You will need to purchase your Textbook/DVD training packet prior to  the first class session as there is required home study that should be completed before the first class meeting. Training packet cost is $55.00 (reg. $79.00). On completion of the course you will receive a gift from us, two FREE dive trips on the Sea Cobra, a $160.00 value.

Open Water Referral Dives.

ScubaTech is a Universal Referral Facility and has a staff of highly qualified instructors who can meet all your instructional needs, regardless of what agency you originally started with.
We require two days to complete all the Open Water Training Dives. The first day you will be diving from the beach and the second day from our dive boat the "Sea Cobra". In the event of inclement weather, we can complete your training dives at the local springs and stay within your schedule.
The course includes tanks and weights. If you require any additional rental equipment, there is a one-day fee for the two-days of use. The cost for Referral Dives is $225.00.

You will need to have your Referral Documents and a copy of your Medical Statement.

EARN YOUR ADVANCED OPEN WATER CERTIFICATION

Have fun and gain experience in Navigation, Search and Recovery (where you’ll learn to use reels and a lift bag), Deep Diving, Wreck Diving and Night Diving. This is a five-dive course conducted over two days and each of the dives can count towards their respective Specialty Certifications. Other Specialty Courses are available from ScubaTech. RESCUE DIVER, become a better trained, more confident and more comfortable diver.

Learn and practice the skills that will make you a “better buddy”. Learn problem recognition and prevention. The Rescue Diver class will teach you more self-reliance skils, instill more confidence and the ability to properly aid another diver should the need arise.

 Become a certified NITROX DIVER while on vacation

Enjoy the benefits of longer bottom times, shorter surface intervals and the “less tired feeling” that many divers experience. You can also take advantage of an increased safety factor when using Nitrox with either air tables or air computer. ScubaTech offers a home study program that allows you the opportunity to receive an Enriched Air Nitrox Certification in a four-hour class. The course also offers a two-tank dive trip (with Nitrox) from our dive boat the “Sea Cobra”.
